SI Media is present in the broadcasting market as a producer of advanced management software for more than 25 years. The following History lists the main stages of a long period of successes:
1978: Dr. Luigi Panozzo based, together with a partner, the IT Company EDS (Elaborazione Dati e Sistemi) starting a service center and data entry that includes billing for the city of Castelfranco Veneto, utilities for gas and water billing, the inclusion of accounts for some studies accountants and management accounting-billing for some of biggest footwear companies based in the North-East of Italy .
1980: EDS sells management software for accounting-billing-store intended to run on IBM platforms (S1 S32 S34 S36 IBM).
1983: EDS becomes dealership for IBM Personal Computer and simultaneously realizes for IBM, two software packages, one for the trucking companies, called TRASPEDS , and another for leasing companies called LEASING.
1986: As IBM controlled agency, EDS implements, for the S38 serie and AS400 serie, a management software for furniture store and USSL.
1987: The subsidiary Informatica & Cultura realizes, on behalf of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, the cataloging of about 60,000 works of art of the Veneto taking 160 between photographers, art historians and technicians of various kinds.
1991: EDS Servizi (the new name for EDS) buys a radio frequency and repeats the Radio Lattemiele’s signal throughout the North-East of Italy. It was born at this point the idea of making a software for the management of radio stations.
1992: EDS Servizi launches Servizi Informatici s.r.l., a private capital company that is a software-house for production management applications for the radio.
1993: Is released the first version of the software package SpotLine™-MusicLine™. The software is made in Clipper under DOS environment, and becomes the first solution marketed in Italy for the management of advertising contracts and playlist creation for radio broadcasters.
1995: Servizi Informatici s.r.l. decides to enter into the television market and releases the first version of the software package SpotLine™-ShowLine™ for the management of advertising contracts and playlist creation for television broadcasters. As the radio version, also the package for television customers has been developped using Clipper language under DOS environment and useing a DBIII database.
1996: It starts a long period of migration of all software packages up to that point developped under DOS environment, to the new Microsoft Windows 95 platform. How language is adopted Visual Basic 4, while as database engine is chosen Microsoft Access.
1997: Servizi Informatici s.r.l. makes its first major installation outside of the Italian territory: at New York (NJ) are installed the traffic modules SpotLine™-ShowLine™ for the management of 13 television channels of the national network EABC (Ethnic American Broadcasting Company) based in New Jersey.
1998: Servizi Informatici s.r.l. implements the first version of the automation software for the television broadcasting market: RecLine™, OnLine™ and DeviceManager™.
The first adopted hardware consists on the MVCast boards for the encoding and the Visual Circuits boards for the decoding of the clips. As archives and video servers were used the Mactronic servers.
The language of development is Visual Basic 5, while for the database engine we migrates to Sybase SQL 5.5.
1999-2000: They come to be part of the portfolio of solutions offered by Servizi Informatici s.r.l. three new modules: MemoLine, which allows the feedback in Windows Media 9 format of all what have been transmitted during the last 90 or 180 days, StatLine for the analysis and statistics of the sold-planned-played and WebLine for the management via web of the advertisement clusters.
Reached a collaboration agreement with the italian company DMT s.p.a. for distribution of the software solutions offered by Servizi Informatici s.r.l.
They’re replaced the encoding boards MVCast first with the Mpegator VideoOne Communicator produced by the Darim and then with the Zapex 230/330 CA. At the same time, the decoding boards VisualCircuits leaves the place to the Stradis SDM275.
In the same period, the video server Mactronic are changed with the higer brand Hewlett-Packard.
2001: Servizi Informatici s.r.l. begins to approach the foreign market by participating for the first time with its own stand at the IBC in Amsterdam.
The software becomes in compliance with the communication protocol Louth (VDCP) and it is imediately applied in the first installation with a video server Sea-Change BMC.
It simultaneously begins a close and fruitful partnership with the famous Italian system integrator Professional Show s.p.a.
All software modules are migrated from the language Visual Basic 5 to the Visual Basic 6 and at the same time the database engine moves from the Sybase SQL 5.5 to the Sybase SQL 7.4.
2002-2003: Starting from the 2002 Servizi Informatici s.r.l. patecipates every year to the IBC in Amsterdam and also to the NABShow in Las Vegas.
It’s released the new software module StoreLine for the archiving of video clips from the video server to the external archive (based on disks or tapes) and their automatic restore when they are needed for the playout.
In 2003 it’s made the first installation using hardware Harris-Leitch NEXIO.
The encoding boards Zapex are out of production and Servizi Informatici s.r.l. for the new installations moves to Digital Rapids DRC1000 e DRC1500.
2005: Starting from this year, Servizi Informatici s.r.l. starts to partecipate also at the CABSAT in Dubai.
During this year kicks off the preliminary work of analysis that will lead to the total renovation of all software modules offered to customers: the platform Visual Basic 6 is abandoned and begins to develop in the new environment. NET (Framework 2.0) taking the language Visual C#. The Sybase SQL database engine is replaced with Microsoft SQL Server 2000.
2006: To better approach to the foreign market, Servizi Informatici s.r.l. changes its brand in SI media while maintaining the historic company’s name.
Continues the work of rewriting the software from Visual Basic 6 to Visual C #.
In the middle of the year it’s made the first installation on new Sea-Change MediaClient/BML video server.
During the same year the new installations begin to use Microsoft SQL Server 2005.
2007: Is completed the first installation of the new software platform built with .NET technology. The software MediaPlay, MediaList, MediaRec and MediaDevice are installed at an italian broadcaster beginning to use them with success and satisfaction.
2008-2009: SI Media starts to work into the international market and in two years sets up a number of installations outside of Italy: Televizija Vijesti (Montenegro), TVR (Romania), AlWatan TV (Kuwait), Nessma TV (Tunisia), Rain TV (Russia), Clubbing TV (France), JV (Russia).
At the same time began the campaign to update the Italian customers from the old version VB6 to the new version. NET of the entire software platform: TCA (Trento), Antenna 3 TNE (Treviso), Prima Antenna (Torino), RTTR (Trento), TeleNuovo (Verona), Napoli TV (Napoli), Canale 21 (Napoli), TeleLuna (Napoli) are just some of the italian national broadcasters in these two years have passed to the new version. NET.
During 2009 also introduces the new software module MediaCG, for the creation and playout of logos and graphics.
Also during the same year the new installations are beginning to use Microsoft SQL Server 2008 as the database engine.
2010: During the annual Broadcasting exposition in Moscow (NATEXPO), SI Media receives the award for ” The Best Technological Project of the Year” with its software MAM (MediaStore) which has been succesfully installed at the production company JV based in Moscow.
2011-2012: SI Media approaches new markets (Latin America, India and Far East) and in few months closes 3 important deals in Mexico (OPMA) and India (Image and Omega).
2013: SI Media implements the management of the web platform at RAI (National Radio Television company) and a complete turn-key solution at San Marino RTV, the first solution fully running under virtual machines environment . In December SI Media officially opens the new branch in Singapore to cover locally the Asian market.
2014: SI Media completes many successful installations all over the world, from K24 in Nairobi (Kenya), to TCS in El Salvador and to MediaPrima at Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). On the technical side SI Media empowers its MAM developing its own Nle solution for journalist, proxy based.
2015: SI Media delivers the first BMS (Broadcast Management System) at LA7 . In the same year SI Media starts a deep restyling of all the application GUI using WPF technology in Modern style, and completes the development of drivers to manage Matrox boards, completing the first installation fully Matrox based at RTV38 (Florence).
