SI MEDIA MAM : the core of the content workflow
The media content management has become in the last years more and more important.
SI Media can now provide a complete turnkey solution for the management of the assets from ingest till the delivery, in a deeply integrated platform, composed by several customizable and scalable modules.
Regarding the file Ingest, SI Media can import contents directly from portable cards such as Sony XDCAM, P2, JVC, Panasonic, from any external sources and FTP. The contents can come into SI Media workflow also from production area (being fully integrated with the major NLE systems such as Adobe, Avid, FCP, Edius..) and base band ingest.
MediaRec integrates any VTR which supports the standard protocol RS422, so SI Media can be the perfect solution for the digitalization of any content.
About the handling of contents among the different archives part of a workflow, SI Media MAM manages both local and external transfers.
Local can be handled using property protocols, intraserver FXP or open CIFS, but SI Media can manage also external transfers towards for example DR Sites or Remote regional sites, having integrated file transfer accelerators as File Catalyst and Aspera.
SI Media takes care to bring the contents to the playout servers (both in IT and server branded environments, please take a look at Partners section in the website for the list of supported brands), with the possibility to automatically move the assets as soon as they are saved in a playlistrundown and set a range of rules to manage this process.
These customizable properties can be specified in SI Media workflow manager allowing for example to:
-define the portion of playlist to be brought locally on the playout and the timing of these operations
-set a list of priorities on the different tasks performed by the archive manager
-automate the cleaning up of the playout storage following heuristics for the optimization of the space usage
The platform is also composed by the file based transcoder, quality check, proxy generator and the LTO tape/Optical disk Library Manager.
The Hsm module which is responsible for the management of offline, nearline and online archive has already integrated a long list of storages. Regarding libraries, SI Media works with Sony Oda, Ibm, SpectraLogic and Quantum, among others, while as central archives Hitachi, Terrablock, Isilon (EMC), Data Direct, Small Tree, GBLabs and many others.
In the next future, SI Media efforts will be focused on the improvement of the workflow manager, to increase the functionalities present in the cloud environment and an even deeper integration with the social networks.
