Truevisions, a leader in telecommunications and technology services in South Asia, is one of the largest broadcasters in Thailand with extensive experience in subscription and TV services.
In order to ensure a multimedia service system that meets the needs of its customers, the Thai TV company turned to SI Media and installed YES!MAM to improve both its storage management and archiving and restoration workflows.
A key element in the installation process was the presence of Trinergy Media Co., Ltd. as the system integrator, who supported us at all stages of the deployment and tuning of the system.
For 25 years, Truevisions has been the leading source of cable television in Thailand, offering viewers more than 100 channels. It has been the main broadcaster of the Premier League in recent years and this year was the official broadcaster of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Content can be viewed on all of the channel’s platforms.
In 2023, Truevisions sought an innovative solution to store and manage its vast multimedia content with a public tender involving multiple software production companies. The goal was to find a comprehensive multimedia asset management system that could communicate with various storage devices and deliver results to various software. SI Media was awarded in November 2023 and in early 2024 the deployment of YES! started as planned. Now, it’s time to showcase our accomplishments.
The provided solution is a hybrid MAM system that moves media from offline to online with extreme simplicity, despite the complex workflows operating in the background. Here’s a summary of the solution:
✓ YES! Media Asset Management: assets are stored in the cloud and automatically retrieved only when required by the playlist.
✓ YES! API Gateway: connects YES! to Tencent Cloud storage, allowing operators to choose between expedited (fast) and standard (slow but cheaper) restoring processes, ensuring total control of assets with multiple tiers and reducing downtime only when necessary.
✓ YES! Data mover: manages both the archiving process to Tencent Cloud and the restoring tasks from the Cloud to the online storages.
✓ YES! Quality Checks: ensures accuracy and avoids errors on ingested content.
✓ YES! Linker: facilitates communication with other software via XML exchange, enabling easy import and export to/from third-party BMS and traffic systems (Imagine and Grass Valley). Operation is enabled by a fully customized GUI and configuration.
✓ YES! Business Intelligence: monitors storage saturation and asset movements using visual and interactive dashboards to help operators understand the current situation.
A brand new preview feature in YES! was introduced for this installation: individual audio channel selection and monitoring.
The entire project was professionally managed by our team, including Shankar Jeyabalan (Project Manager based in Bangkok), Nicola Piovesan (R&D Manager) and Mokan Perisamy (member of SI Media APAC support team based in Kuala Lumpur).
SI Media extends its gratitude to Truevisions and Trinergy for this opportunity to work together and help promote the YES! platform again in Thailand.
