Africa has been, without any doubt, one of the key markets for SI Media in the latest years, with many successful installations in a region where the media industry is growing at the maximum speed.
KTN, the Kenyan national television, has been SI Media customer’s since 2012, when SI Media, always together with its partner in the area, Onset Engineering Systems, deployed a system for automation, ingest and scheduling for the 2 main channels of the broadcaster.
Thanks also to the great success of the first project, SI Media has been awarded to provide the platform suite for MAM and NRCS to KTN. The system has been deployed in less than 2 months, considering configuration, training and launch. Another excellent result for SI Media and Onset in the area!
The workflow has been designed in the following way. All the services, (archive manager, proxy generator, transcoder, web serber, mos gateway, news server), have been installed in a virtualized environment (based on Blaze), ensuring a reliable but cost-effective solution, scalable and ready for further expansions.
The NRCS is composed by around 50 users between windows and web clients, always interconnected to the social media thanks to MediaWire, SI Media hub to import and publish contents from any source (in KTN, for instance, Instagram, Twitter, Telegram and Facebook).
Journalists and producers prepare all the bulletins for broadcasting and socials with MediaNews, then the contents are distributed to all their destinations:
-to MediaNewsPlay for the television broadcasting
-via Mos Gateway to teleprompter Autocue (Qbox)
-always via Mos Gateway the graphics are exported to Orad
-using the transcoder contents are published to Youtube, Facebook and all the other destinations
Central storage has been provided by GBLabs, while SI Media has integrated into its workflow Qualstar tape library.
